Dinner for four, thank you very much
THE Casa Toscana mixed alliance at Southbroom Golf Club last Sunday was won by Kerry and Mari Fielden, with Roger and Heleen Hissey on 96 points.
In second place were Candida Amm, Sandy Fitzgerald, Vusi Maphumulo and Emmanuel Mseleku on 88 points.
The previous Wednesday’s medal was won by Geraldine Treherne on nett 66, seven ahead of Lorraine Cook who had nett 73. Jean Corfe had nett 75 and Jeanne Powell nett 76.
In the men’s section it was Gary Purtell who took top honours on nett 72, followed by Derek James on nett 74. Vic Pretorius had nett 78 for third place.
Kerry Fielden won the Stableford section on 41 points, counting out Norman Jeffery 41. John Lison was third on 39 points.
Saturday’s alliance was won by Julie Walker, Jeanne Powell, Karen Bridgeford and Jan Germs on 91 points.
Runners-up on 89 points were Sandy Luus, Tammy Murphy, Sandy Fitzgerald and Candida Amm.
The men’s alliance went to Howard Kelly, Glen Usher, Helmut Maidl and ‘ghost’ on 95 points.
One point behind on 94 points were John Fox, Gerald Fitzgerald, Errol Amm and Derek James.
Sorry, it was actually R50 000…
THE recent Harcourts Double Up golf day at Port Shepstone in fact raised nearly R50 000 for South Coast Hospice, and not R20 000 as was stated last week.
Harcourts contributed R20 000 to the total amount.
In other news at Sheppie, Kim Strauss and Jenny Hulley won the NAMA (National Association of Managing Agents) Golf Day at Port Shepstone Country Club last Friday.
They scored 47 points to pip Alan Hall and Yzelle Greyling by one point. In third place were Jacky van Heerden and Rob Calder on 44 points.
Wednesday’s comp was won by Phil Myburgh and Paul Bunge on +13, two ahead of Smittie Stieger and Ken Morris on +11.
Two further adrift on +9 were Boetie Thompson and Dalene Steyn.
Saturday’s betterball was won by Johan Pretorius and Kevin Loring on 49 points, one ahead of Christo Janse van Vuuren and Pete Stoppel, who counted out Ryan Ringo and Grant Petersen.
The Auto Exec Monthly Mug takes place this Saturday (2nd).
’38 special’ for Bond
JANE Davies won the James Bowl at Margate Country Club last Tuesday.
She scored nett 68 to win by one from Sandi Johnston. Anita Scheepers was third on nett 71.
Mike Bond won last Thursday’s comp on 38 points, one clear of Brian Jolliffe and Flip Fourie who both had 37 points.
Sanlam Cancer Challenge qualifying was held last Saturday.
Winners were Robert Mavundla (A div 38 points), Thys Bothma (B div 43 points) and Flip Fourie (C div 44 points).
Respective runners-up were Vusi Maphumulo (38 points), Joe Espach (42 points) and John Crewe (42 points).
Women’s winners were Sandi Johnston (A div 38 points), Hilary Hendry (B div 40 points) and Evelyn Burls (C div 39 points).
Respective runners-up were Wondra (B div 38 points) and Chiappini Boshoff (C div 35 points).
