Wondra and Evelyn clinch trophy at Margate CC
The two golfers dovetailed to perfection.
EVELYN Burls and Wondra Bothma combined well to win the Enid Bremner trophy at Margate Country Club last Tuesday.
In second place were Barbara Jackson and Alicia Hilt, followed by Hilary Hendry and Margaret Ford.
The Wobblers’ comp saw Derek Egerton, Otto Mutschler and L Meintjies clean up on 90 points, one ahead of Richard Plaskitt and pivots on 89 points.
Third place went to Nico van Vuuren, Dave Boyd and I Lang on 85 points.
Arthur Tomlinson Floater went to Peter Rogers, Eddie Gommersall and Thys Bothma on 69 points.
Thursday’s comp was won by Joe Espach and Eddie Davies on 47 points, pipping Neil Townsend and John Webster by one.
Nearest the pins were Keith Duncalf (7th in two) and Derek Egerton (16th).
Friday’s business day, sponsored by Comfort Cool, was won by Dries Barkhuizen, Frik van Zyl, George Bowie and Johan Erasmus on 98 points.
Runners-up were Angus McLachlan, Una McLachlan, Neil Townsend and John Webster on 93 points, on a countout from Elise Pretorius, Piet Pretorius, Rob McGill and Frank Merrill.
Nearest the pins were David Jenkinson (4th) and Alicia Hilt (16th).
Saturday’s Doxa Youth Group Golf Day’s winners were Joe Espach and Eddie Davies on 48 points, by three from Harold and Wilna Olkers on 45 points.
In third place on 43 points were Sandi Johnston and Lexley Lewis.
Nearest the pin on 16 was Thys Bothma. Longest drives were won by Jason Gilliver and Sandi Johnston.
