THE Lions’ Show MTB Classic will be hosted by the Burry Stander Foundation this Sunday, July 17.
The race has no other alternative but to use Old St Faith’s Road, going up to Rethman Drive with the start, and down Old St Faith’s Road to the finish.
While this may cause some inconvenience, road safety is key, and SAPS and traffic authorities will be present.
Motorists need to be aware of a few things.
When reversing into Old St Faith’s, be on the lookout for cyclists or pedestrians in your blind spot.
There will be traffic cones splitting the road. One side will be for the mountain bike event. Cyclists will use it all through the morning. Once the last cyclist is through the traffic cones will be removed.
Drive slowly.
Bring your families, chairs, breakfast and braai and enjoy the race. It’s time to show all the cyclists that the South Coast, and Umtentweni in particular, has a wonderfully ‘cheerful’ spirit.
The theme for this year is ‘Tour de Burry’ as Tour de France is currently on the go.
TdF’s main colour is yellow, with a yellow jersey, a green jersey, and a white with red polka dots jersey.
Window dress your gardens as there will be a prize for best ‘Tour de Burry’ garden.
The cyclists really appreciate a good vibe and support. Activity in Old St Faith’s Road will be from 6am to about 2pm.
