Medal magic for Margate’s Mavundla

Arthur Tomlinson Floater went to Eddie Gommersall, Dave Morrison and Hanz Beilhartz on 72 points.
Nearest the pin on the 16th was Alan ‘Dead Eye’ Davies.
Thursday’s comp was won on 37 points by Derek Egerton.
In a tie for second on 36 points were Angus McLachlan and Jim Finn.
Nearest the pins were Keith Duncalf (4th) and Angus McLachlan (16th).
Friday’s business day alliance, sponsored by M Electrical, was won on 95 points by Tony Fairbairn, Terry Yannikakis, Jesse Verster and Ivan Curlewis.
Runners-up on 93 points were Joe Espach, Charlie Hartmann, Dries Barkhuizen and Frik van Zyl.
They counted out Angus McLachlan, Una McLachlan, Neil Townsend and John Crewe.
It was monthly mug time last Saturday, sponsored by Hibiscus Retirement Villages.
It was a good opportunity for some of the ‘boys’ to get in some ‘game time’ ahead of the Southern KwaZulu-Natal Open A division which will be held at Margate this Sunday.
Robert Mavundla won the A division on nett 67 after shooting 69 gross.
Sydney Shingange was the runner-up on nett 69 off his five handicap.
Keith Duncalf won the B division on nett 68, pipping Rob Weyer by one.
Dave Morrison dominated the C division with 39 points, three ahead of Allan Halvorsen.
Nearest the pins were Louw van Niekerk (4th) and Keith Duncalf (11th).
The women’s medal was rained out.
On a football note, a brilliant weekend for Liverpool, top of the league, and Everton losing by five.
