Uvongo TC to co-host provincial games
A process is in place to select a team for the Ugu district.
SECRETARY Di Digby has crafted an illustrated brochure promoting youth development at the Uvongo Tennis Club.
The coaching sessions on Fridays and Saturdays continue apace despite the inclement weather, with the larger Saturday group meeting under the auspices of professional coach Julia Christiansen and being exposed to the wisdom of the back ‘scratcher’ position used so well in the days of yore by the inimitable Rod Laver whenever he served.
The provincial SALGA (local government) Games which are held at different district venues every year will be held at the Uvongo Tennis Club and Douglas Mitchell Tennis Club this year from Thursday, December 8 to the 12th featuring young people in different age groups.
A process is in place to select a team for the Ugu district. Local support for the future of tennis would be appreciated.
Howard Osborne has been carrying out a pilot project to fill the cracks on court four with a minimal contrast with the actual colour of the court. The cracks are nothing like those seen at the WACA in Perth when the Proteas smashed the Australian national cricket team, but still have the potential to deflect the flight of the ball as it hits the affected areas.
