Join Ernie’s Army and tee it up for autism at San Lameer

To make this golf day a success, San Lameer needs the local businesses as well as local golfers to support this worthy cause.

SAN Lameer Country Club will host its first Els for Autism Golf Day, on Wednesday, December 14.

Autism is not a single, easily described disorder. There are unlimited ways in which a person with autism might be affected.

The range of behaviours and challenges associated with autism is so wide that the term autism spectrum disorders (ASD) is used in order to encompass them all.

The onset of autism typically comes very early in childhood, typically before age three.

Individuals with ASD demonstrate varying degrees of difficulty across the areas of social interaction, verbal and nonverbal communication, as well as restrictive and repetitive patterns of behaviour or interest.

The Els for Autism Foundation was established in 2009 by Ernie and Liezl Els to focus on the issue of autism, just a few years after discovering that their son Ben was profoundly impacted by the disorder, which affects one in 68 individuals.

Els for Autism thus aims to provide families across the globe with best practice interventions and support.

The Ernie Els Centre for Autism (EEC) believes that every child with autism can learn and deserves access to effective education.

The entry fee is R1000 per person which includes green fees, a cap, a bottle of Ernie Els wine, halfway house and dinner (excludes golf carts).

By a way of helping the cause, you can either enter yourself, a fourball or if you can’t play, sponsor a hole for only R2000.
