Cracking start to 2017 for Raj Naganna
The step up to the next age group has proven fruitful for the consistent player.
RAJ Naganna of Umtentweni Tennis Club won the men’s single (70+) tournament in Cape Town last week.
It was played at Kelvin Grove tennis courts, where Raj also finished third in the men’s and mixed doubles.
“I’m am very proud of my results and would like to thank Eddie’s Auto for the sponsorship. Much appreciated,” he said.
Welcome back to scribe Jean Marx, who is back from Madagascar, where she spent three wonderful weeks visiting her daughter Sue and family.
Meanwhile, Umtentweni Tennis Club has had many visitors over the holiday period and it has been great to have to think about which shots to play to outwit them.
Members look forward to the next holiday season and hope many of them will pay us another visit.
Last Saturday, summer hit us with a vengeance and tennis was hot and steamy.
There were three courts in action and it was good to have Craig Sanderson back after his time abroad.
Elena Whateley provided eats for tea and much liquid had to be taken in to counteract the awful heat.
An important date to remember is February 4 when the annual general meeting will be held at 5.30pm.
Members are requested to make every effort to attend and please let Foxy Norton know if you would like to stand on the committee this year.
