AfroScots triumph at Southbroom International Shootout
The annual event at Southbroom Golf Club attracts golfers from around the world.
THE first ‘major’ of the year at Southbroom Golf Club is done and dusted, with a local fourball taking the honours in the Southbroom International Shootout, sponsored by Applied Outsourcing.
Winners were the AfroScots, namely Colin Mckay, Robby Cumming, Pete Leeming and Malcolm Greenland.
Runners-up were the Alpine Roses from Switzerland, Anita Landolf, Regina Bossart, Alexandra Huber and Ursula Spoerri.

They pipped the men, the Zurich Highlanders, with Chris Huber, Oswald Padrutt, Bob Bossart and Heiner Spoerri taking third place.
In fourth were the Helterskelters, Derrik Matthew, Bruce Matthew, Geoff Skelton and John Neaves, followed by the Fish & Chips, Kerry Fielden, Mari Fielden, Gavin Sole and Gordon Moody.
In sixth place were the Bloody Foreigners, Emil Hierhold, Hannah Hierhold, Roger Phillips and Heather Anderson.
The tournament was played over three days, and comprised an alliance, betterball and individual.
The previous Wednesday’s game was won by Jeanette Peyios, Candida Amm, Mari Fielden and Sandy Luus on 87 points.
They counted out Lorraine Cook, Sandy Fitzgerald, Margie Sherratt and ‘ghost’.

Men’s alliance went to Paul Cole, Dave Neilson, Gary Purtell and Phil Verwey on 92 points, two ahead of Colin McKay, Malcolm Greenland, Bob Thomas and Gavin Sole.
In third on 89 points were Joe Carolan, Gurney Mathews, Robert Mavundla and ‘ghost’.
Saturday’s comp was won by Augie D’Ewes and Shelley Myers on 47 points.
Tied for second on 46 points were Gordon Moody and Kerry Fielden, Alexandra Huber and Ursula Spoerri, and Peter Volck and Heinz Seiser.
