“KZN Pool Federation is giving the South Coast Ugu district its full support,” says Port Shepstone President, Keegan Reddy.
Eight-ball pool is played countrywide but it is amazing to see how the players within the border of KZN, like Port Shepstone, Ugu districts, Kokstad, Scottburgh, Amanzimtoti, Bluff, Chatsworth and Pinetown, make the province very strong in this code of sport.
“To represent your province is a great achievement in any code of sport and, with a growing membership of 240 players, which includes juniors, women, seniors, masters, opens, disability and referees, that represent KZN in the eight-ball pool championship played around the country, it is also an honour to represent our sub-region,” says Keegan.

Billiards South Africa was established over 30 years ago and has hosted eight-ball tournaments in South Africa as well as international events. For the past few years KZN 8-Ball Pool Federation has been trying very hard to produce good results to be among the great names in pool history.
“Last year saw a total change in the KZN committee and, after re-strategising the team formula, 2016 was the trendsetter and an eye opener for our province,” said Keagan.
After the year of competitive pool in the South African 8-Ball Pool Championship, Keegan Reddy said KZN notched up some amazing results – third in the women’s event, fourth in the seniors and second in the open.
Two players from KZN were chosen to represent South African in the world championship in England and two players achieved individual awards for their performances.

With all the excitement on KZN’s achievements, Pools Billiards recently announced that KwaZulu-Natal had been selected to host the 2017 South African Pool Championships to be held at the Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre beginning in April with the women’s events and concluding with the open on October 13.
