Robert wins the monthly medal at Margate

The course is in pretty good condition for this time of year.

MARGATE Country Club’s merry band of Wobblers headed south last Wednesday to test their skills at the Wild Coast Country Club.

Playing their usual four ball alliance format Carlos Periera, Otto Mutschler, Rob Brien and ‘Casper’ won the competition on 86 points.

Thys Bothma, Ivor Matthee, Nico van Vurren, and ‘Casper’ were second with 81 points oco from James Tutt, Richard Plaskitt, Louis Gouws and Konnie Konrad.

The Arthur Tomlinson Floater was won by Bob Weanie, Fred Boshoff, Hans Dallinger and Rob McGill on 72 points.

Week 19 of Carreira/Curlewis Cup sponsored by Margate Pro’s Shop was won by Doug Johnston on a solid score of 47 points.

Angus McLachlan was second with 39 points followed by Harold Olkers a point behind.

Chris Nel won the nearest-the-pin prize at the 2nd and Johan Stoltz had the nearest at the 16th.

The monthly business day alliance last Friday was won on 97 points by Greg Litkie, Piet Ludick, Barry Oehme and Carlos Perreira.

Jesse Verster, Ivan Curlewis, Terry Yannikakis and John Crewe were second with 95 points, followed by Theuns Esterhuizen, Dennis Bolt, Johann Erasmus and Adriaan Lemmer on 94.

Nearest-the-pins sponsored by Margate Pro’s Shop were won by Ivan Curlewis (2nd) and Piet Ludick (11th).

Results of the men’s monthly medal played on Saturday, June 3.

A division. 1st – Robert Mavundla 69 nett oco from 2nd Patrick Mavundla.

B division. 1st – Sbu Ntozakhe 65 nett. 2nd – Mike Lee 68 nett,

C division. 1st – Mike Bond 39 points. 2nd – Eddie Davies 38 points.

Nearest-the-pins. Gordon Ross (4th) and Robert Mavundla (16th).
