Hiking trail laces up its boots for another leg

The views of rolling hills and gorges were a must-see.

THE ‘Hope Commission’ fund-raiser for South Coast Hospice took place in conjunction with Ugu Athletics Club’s Tendele Hiking Trail last Sunday. The event catered for serious trail runners as well as the less experienced hikers.

Originally launched in November last year, the trail follows a circular route commencing at the Illovo Sugar Mill car park, on corrugated road along the Mzimkhulu River.

Armed for the trail are (from left) Trudy McCabe, Wendy Fairfield and Li-Mari Brits.

A spectacular viewpoint, the confluence of the Mzimkhulu and Mzimkulwana rivers had been identified for the hikers. There was a 3km walk/run, a 5km walk/run/cycle and a 12km run/cycle.

Having tea before their walk are Riona Bishoon (left) and Kardeen Naganna.
