Motorsport action aplenty at Dezzi South Coast Raceway
On Saturday, cars did battle in the qualifying rounds.
THE fastest cars battled it out in the Invitational Challenge at Dezzi South Coast Raceway last weekend. Race enthusiasts from all over KwaZulu-Natal competed to claim top honours when they pushed their vehicles to the limit.

It was motor sport mayhem when top cars, including Porsche, Ferrari, BMW, Nissan Skyline GT-R and Subaru, battled it out in a time attack challenge.
On Saturday, cars did battle in the qualifying rounds. On Sunday another round of qualifying was done and the top 10 cars competed in a shoot-out.
Jaki Schecter and Dawie Joubert vied for top title but Jaki proved the victor. Former South African Formula Ford and US Barber Dodge Pro Series Champion, Jaki, who was born deaf, won the 1992 Formula Ford title at the age of 18 before setting his sights on an international career and heading off to race in the USA.
Sadly a lack of funds prevented him from moving into the Indy Lights series, this despite having an engine deal which was part of his prize for winning the Barber Dodge title.
Jaki, who recently returned from the USA is now based in Gauteng and is the son of six times SA Drivers’ champion Ian, who is of course the brother of South Africa’s sole F1 world champion, Jody Scheckter. Willie de Beer, an accomplished driver in his own right, took third place.
