Rugby-mad Kane shows a lot of heart

His progress will be carefully monitored.

KANE Plasket-Burne is a pupil at Izotsha Primary who was a member of the U12A Sharks Craven Week team that recently toured Vryheid.

The Southern KwaZulu-Natal Rugby Sub-Union assisted him with some sponsorship towards his expenses.

“The reason for this is obviously to assist the parent, but more importantly to identify future young boys from our Southern KZN area and to bring them through the system – for example the Sharks Academy SKZN – and to give them the opportunity to achieve their dreams of becoming a Shark one day,” said Dougie Haralambous, the president of Southern KZN rugby.

He said Kane, who played 8th man, was one of these boys that Southern KZN would track through his junior and high school rugby career and hopefully keep him local.

His mom Taryn is very proud of her son’s achievements so far.

He has been a standout player, picking up a number of man of the match and player of the tournament awards this year.

However, Craven Week was a steep learning curve for the Sharks team.

The boys found it tough going but played their hearts out, with none more than Kane giving it his all.

To say that he is mad about rugby would be a huge understatement.
