WHAT started as an off-the-cuff idea among a few mates at a pub one night has grown into a fully-fledged and influential golf and social club.
That’s none other than Pro-Vision Golf and Social Club, which celebrated its tenth anniversary with a successful golf day at Port Shepstone Country Club last Sunday.

“Once you start chasing the little white ball, you are hooked. Even if you ‘hit and hunt for it’,” said chairman Ashoo Singh.
There’s a lot that has become synonymous with the club over the years.
Through its monthly games, the club has drawn in many new golfers, donated more than R250 000 to charity, and had a lot of fun playing its annual Manchester United vs Liverpool day.
Graham Fabricius is one such player. He started with Pro-Vision where his first handicap was 30. In the matter of a few years, he went on to represent KwaZulu-Natal at country districts level.
Charities supported included South Coast Hospice and a feeding scheme for more than 600 children in Gamalakhe. There was also a visit to the children’s ward at the Port Shepstone Regional Hospital at Easter time.
Winners on the day, which was sponsored by Pat Pather of National Autoglass, were Justin Naidoo and Maurice Naidoo on 46 points, by two from Santosh Baskali and Gansen Appanna.
Two points further adrift were Koko Zithumane and Vusi Maphumulo.
“If we can reach the tenth year with the success that we have had, then twenty and thirty are on the cards,” said Ashoo.
“Pro-Vision currently only has male members, so an invitation is extended to the women to take up the game as well,” he said.
Tournament convener Preggie Perumal thanked all the sponsors who had come on board during the year and on the day to make it all happen.
Vice-chairman Santhos Baskali handled the dishing out of the prizes in his own inimitable and humorous fashion. That he was coincidentally high up in the prizes gave him much delight.
