It's time to get the rods and reels ready.
Regular fishing in Port Shepstone has been quiet, with only a few hammerheads coming out, plus a few other sharks.
Shad have been very quiet. With the discoloured water bronze bream should be on the bite, mainly feeding on cracker shrimps, crayfish and prawn.
The crayfish season opens today, March 1. Remember to buy your licences and stick to the limit and size.
For anglers targeting inedibles, there are plenty flat fish and sharks that have been caught.

There are reports of anglers catching hound and hammerhead sharks in the evenings.
A raggered tooth shark and sandshark were caught recently at Portweni in Oslo Beach. Both fish were safely released.
In terms of deep sea fishing, not many reports have been sent in. The bait has been thick (along most of the coast) with mackerel and red eye sardines making up the bulk of the pockets seen.
