Herald Fishing: No menace for Dennis at Paddock Fishing Compo
The focus was on fishing for sure, but there was a whole lot of family fun, too.
A total of 428,496kg of fish were caught during the 2018 Paddock Fishing Compo held last weekend.
And it could have been more had some Sunday rain not sent some of the fishermen heading for the warmth and comfort of the clubhouse.

Overall though, the weather was great and as always the food delicious.
The winner was Dennis Greyson, the manager at Coastal Farmers, who walked away with first prize thanks to a 4.40kg bass caught in Deon Voigts dam (number 26).
It was the 36th time the event has been held and it continues to be a highlight on the fishing calendar.
Billy Vorster’s dam, number 10, was named best prepared, while the most fish came from Eric Dunstone’s dam, yielding 57,760kg.
About 40 campsites set up at the club and the vibe was exceptional, with a family atmosphere prevailing as many youngsters took part.
There were lots of lucky draw prizes and sponsors were very generous.
For this reason organisers were able to offer some great things on silent auction.
A new category was added this year as the junior category was split into high school and junior school.
The sponsors and community were thanked for working together to pull off another successful event.
