Easter excellence at Southbroom Golf Club
The weather has been a touch on the erratic side to say the least.
THE Good Friday alliance, sponsored by Southbroom Supermarket, was played in rainy weather at Southbroom Golf Club last week Friday.
Winners on 88 points were Colin McKay, Malcolm Greenland, Craig Nelson and Pete Leeming.
They counted out David Rush, Graham Fabricius, Gary Purtell and Gareth Olivant, much to Purtell’s disgust and the others’ delight!
Gareth had the only 2-club on the day, somehow getting his birdie putt to curl in up the slope on the 11th.
Third place went to Heather Anderson, Roger Phillips, Emil and Hannah Hierhold on 87 points.

The Easter Saturday alliance was won on 95 points by Colin McKay, Pete Leeming, Gary Purtell and Malcolm Greenland.
Runners-up on 92 points were Ross McKay, Craig Nelson, Gavin Sole and John Whitnal.
One point behind were Janet Humphrey, Rene Matthew, Shelley Myers and Louise Leal on 91 points.
Fourth spot went to Simon Shusha, Cyprian Xolo, Renato Casagrande and Rob Williams on 89 points.
The previous Wednesday’s competition was won on 47 points by Gordon Moody and Graham Volck on 47 points.
Runners-up were Richard Derman and Craig Treherne, who took a break from catching fish, on 46 points, as well as Gary Purtell and Gavin Sole.
“Made eight birdies and an eagle, thought it might be enough,” chirped Gavin afterwards.
Fourth place went to Art Germs and Malcolm Moorley on 45 points.
In the women’s section, the winners were Jenny Westray and Heather Anderson on 46 points, followed by Shelley Myers and Margaret Stoellinger on 43 points.
In third place on 41 points were Irene Schanda and Gjertrud Kok.
