“Online entries will continue to be accepted until Wednesday, April 25, while late entrants can register the day before the race at Shelly Centre from 10am to noon or at the Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre from 2pm to 5pm.”
On race day, entries will be allowed between 4.30am and 5.30am.
Sponsored by Ray Nkonyeni Municipality and other local sponsors, this marathon could qualify you for the popular Comrades Marathon. However you will need to finish in six hours to qualify, although the time limit for this marathon is seven hours.
All entrants who complete the 48km, 21km and 10km will receive medals and all pre-entries who register on or before April 16 will receive T-shirts.
Prize money totalling over R49 000 and R10 000 worth of lucky draw prizes are up for grabs on the day.
Ultramarathon runners must be 20 years or older, 21km runners must be a minimum age of 16 years and 10km runners 14 years of age on the day of the race.
Entrants are urged to ensure they note the conditions as set out on the entry form, as the event is run in accordance with the rules of the IAAF, Athletics South Africa and KwaZulu-Natal Athletics.
“The route map is available on the South Coast Striders’ website and Facebook page, with start and finish at the Ugu Sport and Leisure Centre. The route takes runners and walkers on a journey through the scenic South Coast, exploring rural back roads, farmlands and along the beachfront, with great sea views for inspiration and up a few challenging hills to keep things interesting,” said Ms Jones.
Prize-giving will take place at 10.30am for the 21km and 10km events and at 12.15 for the 48km.
