Herald Fishing: No new chairman for fly fishermen – it’s John again

New members are welcome to join the club.

JOHN New was elected as chairman of the South Coast Fly Anglers for the eighth consecutive year.

This took place at the club’s recent 23rd annual general meeting.

The committee is as follows: chairman – John New; treasurer – honorary member Stephen Brand, secretary – Sean Tharratt, liaison – Pieter van der Merwe; scribe – Arthur Cary; member – Dean Angove.

The club has regular outings to local saltwater venues, whereas local dams and the Mzimkhulu River are targeted for bass, tilapia and Natal yellowfish.

Members also travel to dams and rivers in the Matatiele, Kokstad and Drakensberg areas where brown and rainbow trout and yellow fish are the target species.

Interested persons are welcome to attend the monthly meetings, which are held at the Shelly Beach Ski-boat Club on the last Wednesday of the month at 6pm.
