Foreigners make merry at Southbroom Golf Club
The course is in superb condition after recent rains.
THE competition at Southbroom Golf Club last Saturday’s was sponsored by The Gallery Café and won by ‘swallows’ Heather Anderson from Scotland and Hanna Hierhold from Germany on 43 points.
Next were Jean Corfe and Solange Fox on 39 points, with Gjertrud Kok and Margeret Stoellinger on 38 points, on a countout from Sandy FitzGerald, Trish Amm, Lorraine Cook and Michelle Davies.
In the men’s section, the winners were Bruce Matthew and Bob Thomas on 45 points, on a countout from Paul Cole and Colin McKay.
Next were Roger Phillips and Malcolm Moorley on 44 points.
Collecting a chicken for their efforts last Friday were Derek James on 22 points, Ivor Buratovic and Colin McKay on 21 points, and Gjertrud Kok, Bar Hirschowits and Cadin Lang, all on 20 points.
The women’s competition last Wednesday was won on 90 points by Jo Ledden, Lesley Godley, Hannah Hierhold and Janet Humphrey.
Runners-up on 89 points were Sharon Turnbull-Jackson, Heleen Hissey, Lee Mutch and ‘ghost’.

The men’s alliance was won on 99 points by Malcolm Greenland, Colin McKay, Andrew Leckie and Gary Purtell.
Two adrift were Dave Fox, Bruce Matthew, Geoff Skelton and Jim Cook, followed a further three points behind by Roger Hissey, Roy Deakins, Bob Carmichael and Gavin McKekney.
