Herald Fishing: Good-bye summer as winter fish spring autumn surprise
Anglers are still getting some decent shad in places.
Fishing has stabilised over the past few days as the wind has given our anglers a break to fish with the calming of the sea.
The winter fish haven’t given us a gap to prepare for them as they have already started coming out and the in-edible fish have started disappearing.
Reports are in of a couple of Natal snoek that have been caught.
There have also been quite a few small kob coming out on dropshot and chokka baits late into the evening.
There are reports of anglers getting some decent shad at Stiebel Rocks in Umzumbe and Uvongo Pier.
Anglers targeting bronze bream are still having a bit of fun with these reef fish.
Deep sea anglers are still getting quiet a bit of tuna and some decent bottom fish.
Doug Dustan from up the road at Umkomaas was the top angler at the Shelly Beach interclub tournament with a tuna of 30.2kg.
He also won the team event with Paul Shepard and Kyle Hattingh.

The Marlin Ski-boat Club Game Fish Classic is set to take place on April 27 and 28.
