City marathon was ‘hot and humid’ for Ugu AC runners
It was a tough run, but the runners got it done in the end.
TWENTY eight runners from Ugu Athletics Club took part in the Durban City Marathon last Sunday.
The course for the city marathon is flat and runs in and around town among the high rise buildings.

“It is known that the flat course is tough for runners in that they are expected to keep on running as opposed to walking on hills. The effect of this is muscle injuries and therefore painful,” said club stalwart Pardon Mathebula.
It was a hot and humid day and many of the runners tired more easily than usual.
However, in the end, they finished comfortably in the following distances: 42.2 km, 21.1 km and 10 km.
The results of the runners are either missing for most runners or not indicated for each distance and therefore not available.
The toast of the Ugu Athletics club for this race was Menzi Tshayiza, who, according to the result sent to him, finished the race in his personal best of 2:48:40.
