Swimmers speed to medals

Coach Mandy Koegelenberg congratulated the swimmers on their efforts.

THE Speedo KwaZulu-Natal Junior Championships is open to all registered swimmers in the province who are 13 years old or younger.

This meet took place at the KZN Pings Park swimming stadium where 11 swimmers from Blue Ocean Aquatics took part.

Nabil Bejia (8) won two gold medals and two bronze medals.

Daniel Fisher won a silver medal in the 50m breaststroke and also qualified to swim in five finals, placing well in the 100m breast.

Marnu Koekemoer won a silver medal in the 50m back and made finals in five events.

He swam a national junior qualifying time in the 100m freestyle.

George Annandale won a bronze in the 100m breaststroke and also swam in two finals, where he improved on his best times by 31.88 seconds overall.

Milla Drakopoulos won silver medals in the 100m and 200m freestyle events respectively, and made four finals.

Khrysten le Roux, Amber Vorster and Gemma Allchin all qualified to swim in the finals and placed well in their respective events.

Coach Mandy Koegelenberg congratulated the swimmers on their efforts.

“You’ve proved that your hard work and training towards reaching your goals has paid off,” she said.
