Lanka outplays cricket pack

Dropped catches can be a costly thing in a cricket game.

Port Shepstone Country Club played Wolfpack cricket team at home last Sunday.

Sheppie won the toss and bowled first on an overcast morning.

Wolfpack scored 163-4 in 20 overs.

Meshan Lanka top scored with 121 not out, which included seven sixes and 14 fours.

He was dropped when on 48, proving the old adage that catches win matches.

Pick of the Sheppie bowlers was Noel Pieters with 2-18 in four overs.

Zack Tele made up for dropping Lanka, with very good figures of 1-10 in four overs.

Sheppie then fell short in pursuit of Wolfpack’s total, managing 136-1.

Matt Malan made 49*, Matthew Benson 43 and Keegan ‘Cross Bat Hacker’ Ray 30*.

Lanka was the best of the bowlers, with 1-12 in three overs, and no surprises when he was named man of the match.
