Warriors golf sees rugby players scramble for par

Longest drives went to Charl Cilliers and Shannon Gottlieb.

BROTHERS in law, Jacques Cilliers and Theo Nicholls won the Riversmead South Coast Warriors Rugby Club golf day at Margate Country Club last Saturday.

The format was a betterball ‘Scramble Drive’ which was forgiving and fun.

They scored 52 points to win by three from Lou van Niekerk and Johann Erasmus.

In third place were Brian Jolliffe and Anton Kohrmann on a countout from Tiaan Malherbe and Juan van den Berg.

Fifth spot went to Peter McCarthy and Greg Litkie on 46 points, on a countout.

Nearest the pins: 2nd – Len Wilmans, 4th – Rob Weyer, 8th – Barbara Jackson, 11th – Kyle Krummeck.

Longest drives went to Charl Cilliers and Shannon Gottlieb.

The business day last Friday was won on 93 points by Joe Espach, Johan Stoltz, Frik van Zyl and Johann Erasmus.

Runners-up were Jan Roos, Nicky Smith, Gary Purtell and David Rush, on 90 points, counting out Wonderboy Nxumalo, Abe Sidome, Duncan Cotton and Siswe Mjoli.

Last Thursday’s competition saw Frik van Zyl take first place on 37 points, by two from Alan Davies.

Runners-up on 90 points were Gary Purtell, David Rush, Jan Roos and Nicky Smith, making a return to golf after a very, very long break.

The Wobblers game at the Wild Coast Sun CC last Wednesday was won on 80 points by Eddie Gommersall, Brian Jeffreys and Louie Gous.

Runners-up were Bob Weanie, André Henn and John Gibson on 79 points.
