From the bowling greens: Sevens league dominance for Sheppie

KINGFISHER BA

The Kingfisher Bowling Association 7s League was played at a number of clubs last week, with the playoffs taking place at Margate BC last Friday.

The team of Eddie Fann, Kevin Lancaster, Roy Anderson, Linden Wright, Brian Rawlins, Dave Price and Murray Ross from Port Shepstone Country Club took top honours in the men’s league.

In second place were AMBC, followed by Margate C in third and The Bell fourth.

The team of Delysia Mitchley, Liesjie de Rosner, Hester Hankey, Gina George, Helen Turk, Pam Navias and Barbara Lombaard from AMBC B’ took top honours in the Daphne Conradie Women’s 7’s League.

They were followed by The Bell in second place, Port Shepstone CC in third and Margate BC fourth.

BANNERS REST

The club will host the women’s third league this Saturday (17th) in the morning, and the men’s first league and fours league in the afternoon. Supporters welcome.

First sponsored competition of the new season is the Golden Moon Spur mixed trips on next Wednesday (21st).

Club championship entry forms for 2019 are now on the noticeboard, with an entry closing date of January 15.

MARGATE BC

Mojo’s Café 3-bowl trips were won by Brian Smalberger, Maureen McClemon and Alex Forest.

Georgia Spur open trips were won by Rob Miller, Yvonne Bausek and Kobie Ritchie, from Renie Geyer, Trevor Prinsloo and Volene Prinsloo. 50/50 board to Barry Mollet.

Social bowls is played every Sunday morning at 9am. Dress casual, bowls and assistance provided.

MARGATE CC

La Capannina Restaurant open day was won by Peter Griffiths, Billy Eccles and Marie Rodger.

Runners-up were Dora Vosloo and Norman Bridger. Lucky draw was won by Graham Gold.

MUNSTER

High Rock mixed pairs winners were Chris Green and Helen Cock.

Runners-up were Tommie and Louise Dry.

Second session to Phil Longden and Gail Botes. Board to Gail Botes.

Cow Shed/Tops men’s pair’s winners were Kotie Snyman and John Keppler.

Runners-up were Piet Heunis and Rob Lyle. Second session to Jokkie van Buuren and Mike Gower. Board to John Keppler.

Hibiscus Brokers mixed trips is on Thursday, November 29. Christmas Lunch is on Sunday, December 9.

PORT EDWARD

The annual Wally Brass Friendship Trophy at the reopening of the green last Sunday was won by Rob Lyle, Myra Doubell, Ray Martin and Sariena Ziervogel.

Runners-up were Marianne van Buuren, George Snyman, Alice Lumley and Jeanette Offer. Marianne van Buuren won the Blind Bowlers spider.

Social bowls is on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 1.30pm. Sundowners is on Friday afternoons at 4pm. Visitors welcome at both.
