In what was clearly the highlight on the local darts calendar, families and friends of the local darts fraternity turned out in their droves to celebrate a special evening with their families at the Port Shepstone District Darts Association’s (PSDDA) annual darts banquet at Port Shepstone Civic Centre last Saturday.

Dart clubs from the South Coast were honoured for their outstanding performances in the past season.
Players, sponsors and guests were treated to great entertainment and good food.
The number of awards handed out were a reminder as to how important the sport is to the local community and the value it places on recognising its high achievers.
The big winners on the evening were players from Jumperz ‘A’, who won all five leagues, namely Quenchers Pub and Grill 4-A-Side, Steelware Trophies 4-A-Side, Status Panelbeaters 4-A-Side, Bhekhaphambili 4-A-Side and Memorial 4-A-Side.
President’s award winner Mike Holloway did Jumperz ‘A’ proud, having an exceptional year and taking home the lion’s share of the trophies.
He placed first in the Deveshen Moodley Doubles, BK Singh Singles and the Atish Sewraj Jumperz Singles.
Mike also took home the title of winner of the PSDDA ‘180’ Cup Knock-out.
He also won the outstanding achievement award for highest close, and during the year ticked off some milestone achievements for 25th and 50th ‘180’ badge.
Mike also achieved a record 41 ‘180s’ during the season, and unsurprisingly represented the KZN team.
