Candle-lit dinner and awards for Striders

At the 2018 Comrades Striders had 34 finishers which included a silver medal win by Mavela Nyembezi.

SOUTH Coast Striders held its annual general meeting and prize-giving year-end function at the clubhouse in Uvongo last Friday night… some of it in the dark.

It was a fantastic evening where the members got together to celebrate a year of amazing results as 2018 has been a great year for Striders.

Runners and walkers have taken part in most of the races around KZN and even in some other provinces.

At the 2018 Comrades Striders had 34 finishers which included a silver medal win by Mavela Nyembezi.

Mavela Nyembezi is the Striders top athlete for the year. Kim Jones wishes him well.

One of the highlights was a training run with past Comrades winner David Gatebe.

Top achievers were awarded certificates and the top two athletes of the year were awarded a floating trophy each.

Top woman Strider for 2018, Zandile Dunywa, is congratulated by club chairman Freek Stander.

Top woman athlete for the year was Zandile Dunywa who received the Kim Jones floating trophy. The top man was Mavela Nyembezi.

After the awards members were treated to a delicious meal, which was enjoyed in the candlelight due to the load-shedding.
