Nelzaan won gold in the 14-15 age group and qualified for the South African Open Water nationals in Port Elizabeth next year.

Mandy and Nelzaan were joined by Koekemoer siblings, Winé and Marnu, for the 1km Greendale Spar Capital K, where Mandy won gold in the 30-40 year age group.

Nelzaan swam a time of 15:33, while Marnu clocked 16:48 and Winé was not too far behind in a time of 17:26.

Mandy did the 500m open water swim at Midmar dam, along with her daughter Kirsty.

It was Kirsty’s first open water swim, and by all accounts she seems to have thoroughly enjoyed it.
