His Saturday round of 80 was mostly about damage control in the cold weather.
“I hit a 5-iron to the 2nd green which just never made it, such was the strength of that south-westerly wind,” he said.
His second round 75 included six three-putts, which appalled him as he’s a great putter.
All in all, he’s said he’s hitting the ball as well as ever, despite having had a back operation a few years ago.
“The left arm doesn’t work perfectly, maybe it’s helped,” he laughed.
After the operation he started seeing a biokineticist which he said has made a tremendous difference.
“I told the boys I’m not hanging up my boots just yet, my goal is to win next year so as to have won in seven different decades.”
