Sole lines up title number 10

IT’S time for club champs at Southbroom Golf Club this weekend, with Gavin Sole expected to easily win his eighth title in a row and tenth overall.

The only debate really is by how far he’ll win. That depends on how well he putts, which is usually top-notch.

The previous Wednesday’s alliance was won by Shelley Myers, Irene Schanda and Val Volck on 73 points.

Runners-up were Heleen Hissey, Carol Lamb and Della Kempthorne on 70 points.

The men’s Stableford was won on 46 points by Paul Lawson and Jim Cook, with Derrik and Bruce Matthew on 45 points.

Tied for third on 43 points were Alec and Ken Crawford, as well as André Steyn and Craig Treherne, as well as Gerald FitzGerald and Bob Clark.

The open alliance last Saturday was won on 87 points by Arthur Lee, Juri Matthee, Malcolm Moorley and Piet Joubert.

Runners-up on 84 points were Steve Wells, Shelley Myers, Irene and Erwin Schanda.

In a tie for third on 83 points were Dave Page, Bob Carmichael, Derrik and Bruce Matthew, as well as Derek James, Di Morris, Eli Bachman and Andy Bossard.
