Rest and recovery after the storm
The ‘New to Bowls’ group session on Wednesday mornings has been suspended for now.
THERE was a pause to catch our breath this week after the exertions of the August Tournament, and the weather decided to return to winter mode again.
There was only one monthly competition played at this time, so the greens were not overly stressed.

The mixed 2-4-2 last Friday brought a fairly good number of teams out to play and a number of good games were recorded.
Winners with a score of 4+22 (but with fewer shots against) were Mike Robertson and Hilary Holmes. They won vouchers for Enzo’s, Atlanta Spur and Scotties Tuck Shop.
Runners-up with a score of 4+22 were Pine Pienaar and Di Hayes, winning vouchers for the Blue Marlin Hotel.
This month the second session winners with 2+16 were the side of Leisje de Rosner and Fred Hutchins and they took away vouchers for John Dory’s Restaurant.
Thank you to all local business owners who have supported the club.
The weather took a turn for the worse and on Saturday nobody played due to the conditions.
On Sunday there were also fewer than normal players at the club.
The ladies 2-4-2 takes place next Wednesday (28th).
Next month it’s the Harry Bell Memorial Tournament, best known as the ‘Blue Coats’, which will again bring numerous top-notch bowlers to the area.
However, all normal tabs-in games will be played during this time period.
The next club championship, the drawn trips, has already gotten underway.
The ladies section is being played as a ‘round robin’ format and has started.
The first round of the men’s section, knock-out games start this Thursday (22nd).
