We hope the weather holds and that you all have a great time, and that you’re all looking forward to the cocktail party on Thursday evening after prize-giving.
There was a single monthly competition this last week at the Club, and this was the Ladies 2-4-2 played on Wednesday August 28.
Winners were Estelle Collier and Eunice Stockton with a score of 4+17, and they won vouchers for Hair4U.

For being good sports and winners of the ‘rock bottom’ prize was Sylvie White and Marie Vosloo, and they won vouchers for Scotties Tuck shop and Tea Deck.
Runners-up with a score of 4+7 was the side of Martina Olivier and Di Hayes, and they won vouchers for the Coffee Lounge.
The second session winners with a score of 2+10 were the side of Ann Kerr and Lyn Pienaar, and they were awarded vouchers for the Shop on Scott.
Other activities this week have included the last rounds of the drawn trips for both the ladies and the men’s sections.
The semi-final of the men’s championship was played last Thursday and it was a cracker.

All teams won nine ends, and the final scores for both winning teams ended within one shot difference of the losers, it could not have been closer games.
The ladies teams also played the next rounds, and as it turned out the finals for both championships could be played last Saturday.
What a final it was too, as the game was played in virtually all weathers, from rain to sun and gale force winds.
In the men’s game there was with two ends to play, both the teams were peeled, and on the final end, the runners-up side was holding four shots, with three bowls to play.

It was a truly amazing game which was fought to the very last delivery, before eventual winners Ian Stockton, Jan Vosloo and Rob Simms took the trophy from runners-up Mike Robertson, David Mustard and Eugene Tupholme.
On the ladies side the round robin format was played, and although not all games have been played there was only one team which had not lost any matches, and was thus the winners, namely Gale van Nikkelen-Kuyper, Felicity Burwood and Rose Mason.
Keep taking the grass.
