Alliance consolation for Selborne’s Interclub golfers

It was a case of close but no cigar for mid South Coast teams at this year's KwaZulu-Natal Interclub, held at Selborne Park, Umdoni Park and Umkomaas golf clubs. The A and B divisions were won by Southbroom and Kloof respectively, while the Frog and Senior Frog divisions were won by Maidstone and Beachwood respectively.

It was a case of close but no cigar for mid South Coast teams at this year’s KwaZulu-Natal Interclub, held at Selborne Park, Umdoni Park and Umkomaas golf clubs.

The A and B divisions were won by Southbroom and Kloof respectively, while the Frog and Senior Frog divisions were won by Maidstone and Beachwood respectively.

Selborne Park’s Senior Frog team won the Alliance at the KZN Interclub last Sunday. Brian Olsen (KZN Golf Union vice president) congratulates Tim McGregor and Julius Dlamini. Adrian van Vuuren was absent.

Beachwood beat Umdoni’s team of Geoff Shepstone, Ashwin Ramchand and Brian Green for the Senior Frog title.

There was some consolation for Selborne in that the club won the Alliance in the Frog and Senior Frog divisions.

The Frog team was represented by Brian Witthuhn, Andrew Sharp and Gareth Parsons while the Senior Frog side comprised Tim McGregor, Adrian van Vuuren and Julius Dlamini.

In the Senior Frogs, Umdoni’s team of Gordon Ross, Andrew Donnelly and Jaco Mostert reached the knockouts but lost in the semis, as did Selborne’s team of Shaun Parsons, Hartwieg du Rand and Wayne Scrooby.

In the Frog division there was disappointment for Umkomaas when two teams made the semis but both got knocked out. The teams were Moonsamy Nelson, Viv Naicker and Saga Reddy, as well as Dean Naicker, Tash Naicker and Kuben Naidoo.
