Fishermen reel in big catches

A few hours of effort, resulted in a well-deserved catch at Sandspit in Port Shepstone under the Mzimkhulu Bridge, which is proving to be fertile ground for big fish.

Avhier Singh caught a magnificent 139cm kob, using his 11ft amia assassin xh zero, 6000 saragosa and JDB ultra tech 20lb braid with 0.6 king fisher leader.

Skipper Chris Diedricks was amongst this week’s excellent catchers with his 7kg pink salmon, a rare find.

Meanwhile in the deep seas, a very unexpected but very welcome surprise addition to the the personal record books of skipper Chris Diedericks took place after he caught a hungry looking pink salmon.

The fish decided to help itself to one of Chris’ sardines, that was set up on a trap stick for tuna. At 7kg it’s amongst the largest of its species and was caught at out at Protea Banks in Shelley Beach.
