Hiking trail comes alive again
It's a family trail and can be easily completed by children.
Tendele Hiking Trail came alive recently when 18 trailers took advantage of the cooler weather to hike 6km of the 10km trail.
It’s a family trail and can be easily completed by children, too. The trail starts at the Umzimkulu sugar mill in Port Shepstone.
It winds along the Mzimkhulu River to St Helen’s pump house.
A short climb to the view point brings one to spectacular views of the Mzimkhulu and Mzimkuluwana rivers.
The gorges and valleys are truly sights to behold, right on our doorstep.
Then, a fairly steep climb of about 700 metres brings one up to Bazley farm and the Ugu dam .
A pleasant walk thereafter takes one past Kulucrete and back to the mill.

Umbango River Conservancy encourages nature lovers to include this hike in their holiday activities which can be done at any time that suits you.
“In the interest of promoting good health and fitness we have decided to open the trail again, with small groups at a time observing Covid protocols,” said Raj Naganna.
