Tennis and camaraderie win at interclub fixture

After a total of 46 matches, comprising of men’s, ladies and mixed doubles, Tweni emerged the victors 258 to 179.

Umtentweni Tennis Club hosted neighbours Southbroom in a friendly interclub fixture, last Sunday.

For the first time, the two sides played for the honour of winning the Kisten Moodley Family floating trophy.

The event was played in the best of spirits between the two clubs and will definitely take place again soon. One could sense the feeling of camaraderie between all the players which can only mean a bright and long future.

After a total of 46 matches, comprising of men’s, ladies and mixed doubles, Tweni emerged the victors 258 to 179. Having said that, at the end of the day the real winner was the tennis and the friendships.

A huge thanks to Southbroom for joining in and to team captain Christian Kruger. Special thanks also goes out to Tweni members who helped to make this event the success it was.

Special thanks also goes to the family of the late Kisten Moodley who donated the floating trophy. May the memory of this very special man indeed go on and on, a true inspiration to us all.
