New club ready to soar
The club has already established good working relations between the KZNRU, The Sharks and various schools as well as supporting business and local partners to develop rugby on the South Coast.
There is a dawn of a new era on the South Coast, with the introduction of a new rugby club that is looking to make a difference in the lives of young rugby players and community.
The Esayidi Eagles Rugby Club has officially been established and is affiliated with the Southern KZN Rugby Sub Union which forms part of of the KZN Rugby Union (KZNRU).

“We are proud to say that we have more than than 30 years’ experience managing our new club, with some of our staff having previously gained managerial experience within the Blue Bulls Rugby Union (BBRU), Lions and KZN Rugby Unions,” said Theuns Steenkamp, chairman of the Esayidi Rugby Club.
“Our head coach is a well known former provincial and SA Rugby player and has years of coaching experience with a distinguished record of trophies,” he added.
Situated at the Margate Sports School, the facilities are owned and maintained by the Boet Fourie Trust, a trust that was established under the late Boet Fourie.

“Boet dedicated his life to invest in the development of youth through sport and as part of his legacy the family has decided to continue the good work in sponsoring us,” Steenkamp said.
Having already enrolled 25 players into the sports programme, the Esayidi Eagles Rugby Club also champions academics, as half of the players are enrolled into the Esayidi TVET College Port Shepstone Campus for mechanical and electrical engineering.

One of the clubs main objective is the provision of facilities to promote participation in playing, and management of the game in amateur rugby and other sports.
The Eagles Rugby Club will operate an equal opportunities policy, awarding equal rights regardless of sex, age, disability ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, religion or any other beliefs or differences we have as humans.
The club has already established good working relations between the KZNRU, The Sharks and various schools as well as supporting business and local partners to develop rugby on the South Coast.
The Eagles will compete in the Southern KZN (SKZN) third division which will see them face teams from Matatiele, Kokstad, Umzimkhulu, Ixopo and teams from various other regions.

With light training already underway, fixtures set to kick off at the beginning of April and all residents of the South Coast are encouraged to show their support throughout the season.
