Great golf in store this week

Captain Bob Hall, Kevin Reimer and Gerrie Hattingh remarkably rolled in 2 clubs and not surprisingly the hidden holes were difficult to find.

Greenkeeper Graham Brown verticut the greens at Scottburgh Golf Club this week, not to stop all the fancy scores but to get rid of the thatch and fungus that built up with the weather variations of late.

So last Wednesday the greens were a bit ‘hairy’ which didn’t stop Graham from winning with Roly Tickle as their 64 points were good enough by two from Deanne Jooste and Johan Barnard on 62 in a combined Stableford.

Captain Bob Hall, Kevin Reimer and Gerrie Hattingh remarkably rolled in 2 clubs and not surprisingly the hidden holes were difficult to find. Unfortunately for new member Gerrie and visitor Alan Hawkins they took away (figuratively speaking) Stone Last.

The Fairway Friday Fivepin is gathering more players every week and this week Linda Hall scooped the winner’s cheque for R200 with 12 points.

It was a five way count out for second with Jason Gilliver squeezing them out for second place and R100, nice way to start the weekend.

Dave and Janet Beckerly sponsored last Saturday’s betterball which was appreciated by the members at prizegiving. Deanne Jooste once again stepped up to the plate this time with Casper the local Ghost and their 42 points.

Graham Brown reading the greens along with Mick Marriot in attendance scooped second spot with 39 and Denis Brown got into the act with Wayne Simpson for third with 38.

Bob Hall was nearest the pin on the 5th and who else but Graham Brown was nearest on the10th. Local ‘sparky’ Gary Jones tripped out with Hilton McAuliffe for Stone Last.

Today (16th) will be a betterball Stableford and P&G Construction will be sponsoring this Saturday’s game and don’t forget Friday’s start to the weekend.

Flyers footnote: The difference between golf and government is that in golf you can’t improve your lie.
