The fairways were becoming hard and the greens were in need of natural watering. Someone must have heard as last Wednesday the heavens opened and dumped who knows how many millimetres on the whole of Scotties.
The majority of players who finished came in looking like drowned rats soaked to the skin.

Flyer’s footnote (dedicated to Bob): The most exquisite satisfying act in the game of golf is that of throwing a club. The full backswing, the delayed wrist action the flowing follow through followed by that unique whirring sound reminiscent of a flock of starlings, are without parallel in sport.
