Volunteer as golf club preps for Joberg2c finish
This event will be televised and will give Scottburgh Golf Club and the town some much-needed publicity.
Good news is that the Joberg2C is once again finishing on the first tee at Scottburgh Golf Club on Saturday, April 30.
This event will be televised and gives the town and club some much-needed publicity (maybe the potholed streets will get some attention).
We will be looking for volunteers to come and drive the golf buggies around assisting the riders wherever we can so if you can make yourself available please contact the club, we would appreciate your help.
Last Wednesday’s betterball Stableford was won in great style by Bob Hall and Graham Brown with 44 points. Just two points further back, Tony Power and Brian Richards came close. Wherever the hidden holes are is a mystery and no one was good enough to claim a 2 club, seis!
Your Local Choice Pharmacy is this year’s sponsors of the monthly medal and alliance competition. Thanks for the continued support and organisation.
The day set off a bit ‘iffy’ with a fine precipitation as the weatherman says and this caused a few ‘wussies’ amongst our number to bale out.
Their fine however, is awaiting them when these fair weather golfers return.
Jason Gilliver shot a remarkable 70 to take the A division best gross and Barry Kisten had a nett 74 for that prize.
In the B division John Mills had the best gross with 83 and Kevin Ramkisson had a nett 73.
As the C division played Stableford, it was Mick Marriot who won with 29 points and Clyde Leisagang followed him up with 26.
Once again the hidden holes remained just so, but Jason Gilliver rolled in two 2 clubs to help him celebrate his birthday last Sunday.
Winning the Alliance were Mick Marriot, Clyde Leisagang, Geoff Thommasen and Ian Walker with a miserly 78 points. Even though two of the fourball were in the prizes, Kevin Ramkisson, Barry Kisten, Doc Mahabeer and honorary Indian for the day Graham Brown paid their compliments to the Stone.
Winning the monthly mug for March was John Mills with a 69 WET.
This Wednesday (30th) and Saturday (2nd) are both individual Stablefords. Saturday’s game is sponsored by Umthunzi Hotel and Conference Centre at Umtentwini.
First place is a two night stay for two people at this luxurious hotel worth around R4000, with second place a one night stay again for two people.
There will be other prizes on offer and nearest the pins on all five short holes, worth getting wet for if it rains.
The Scottburgh Lions Club which does such good work for the local district will be hosting a fourball Alliance game on Saturday, April 9. They always put on a great day and it is open to all golfers in the district, so please come along and support.
Flyer’s footnote: The golf swing involves around 64 muscles, that result in a seemingly natural swing taking all of two seconds from start to finish.
