‘Scum’ of Scottburgh ruin greens

The course gives so much pleasure not only to the members, but to local citizens for exercise and to the many visitors to the town.

We had it bad during Covid with no golf and the last couple of weeks brought back the memories of it due to the inclement weather, and I’m sure Clement would agree.

Unfortunately the Scum of Scottburgh have not been put off by the incessant rain.

The first thieving scumbag decided to dig up part of our 11th green and surrounds.

He either needed to patch his lawn or had a customer needing grass so he took three different samples.

The second scumbag decided to race his motorbike across the second green.

He came down Marine Terrace, through the gap and churned up the green.

You were observed and a description of your machine has been given to the relevant authorities.

The course gives so much pleasure not only to the members, but to local citizens for exercise and to the many visitors to the town.

Should either of you be found – the cost of repairs to a green is R10 000 per square metre.

Our tribulations however, fall into insignificance with the devastation that has occurred throughout our province.

Lives and property lost, infrastructure severely damaged which will take months if not years to repair.

This type of weather occurs every five years or so and each time it gets worse. We at the club extend our condolences to each and every family that has been affected.

No games, no results, but on the cards is an individual Stableford on Wednesday and the Lions sponsored fourball Alliance will be played this Saturday (April 23), weather permitting.

Flyer’s footnote: To both of the aforementioned criminals we wish the following Arabic saying, “May the fleas of a thousand camels forever infest your underwear.”
