Golfaholics flock to Scotties as some courses still waterlogged
We had quiet a few visitors this week as local courses were still waterlogged and golfaholics were needing their fix.
At last we get to report on some games played at Scotties.
The bad weather seems to have paused and maybe we will get some sunshine and the place can dry up.
It was still a bit wet on Wednesday as we teed it up for an individual Stableford especially around the 6th green, but we all managed to finish in the dry.
Brian Richards carded 34 points to win by one from Kevin Ramkisson on 33.
Nobody had a 2 club and the hidden holes are missing, presumed drowned.
We had quiet a few visitors this week as local courses were still waterlogged and golfaholics were needing their fix.
The players from Toti were also down here as their course is still under water and their bridges somewhere in the Indian Ocean, not something we like to see anywhere and especially to fellow golfers.
We wish their club and members a speedy return to business, but until then you’ll get a friendly welcome here in Scotties.
The Lions golf day was again postponed with the rain coming down on Saturday morning and has been rescheduled for Saturday, May 7 – a new time sheet will be posted and the day promises to be fun filled.
However, by 11:00 the weather cleared and a Individual Stableford game was hastily arranged for those having withdrawal symptoms.
Another Brown, this time Craig, came in with 36 points to win the count out over another Brown, this time Graham, with Clyde Leisagang pulling in third with 35. We will eventually find the hidden holes somewhere on the course and Pete Gilliver had the only 2 club.
This Wednesday (27th) Herman Grotius will be sponsoring the day as he will be celebrating his birthday, and if it’s anything like last year we’re in for a great day.
The weekend however, will be taken up by the Joberg2c cycle race as they will be finishing on the first tee amid the many supporters and of course the TV cameras.
If you would like to be part of this great day, why not come along and help by driving a golf buggy around getting the cyclists back to their vehicles. We need your support and the pub and restaurant will be open to everybody.
Flyer’s footnote: Good golf isn’t a matter of hitting great shots. It’s also finding a way to make your bad ones not so bad.
