Top amateurs descend on Sheppie

The Halfway Ford Business Day last Thursday was won on 87 points by Gavin van Wyk, Bruce Holmes, Gary Vogt and Lionel Peters.

Port Shepstone Country Club is all set to host the KwaZulu-Natal Open Strokeplay this weekend.

The tournament is one that counts for national ranking points and so has attracted many of the top amateurs in the country.

The course has bounced back after the April floods and should be conducive to some low scoring. It could be fun to watch.

The Halfway Ford Business Day last Thursday was won on 87 points by Gavin van Wyk, Bruce Holmes, Gary Vogt and Lionel Peters.

Two points behind were Chris Boyce, Ewald Ziervogel, Graham Dickson and Rob Calder with Kim Strauss, Yzelle Greyling, Jennifer Duncan and Cecelia Verster next on 81 points.

The D’arcy Monthly Mug last Saturday was won by Hans Stols on nett 66.

A division was won by Gavin van Wyk on nett 69, by three from Sydney Shingange. Gavin also had the best gross of 76;

B division honours went to Paul Bunge on nett 72, by one from Nick Wattrus.

C division was won by Sheldon van der Merwe on nett 69, by three from Rob Vogt on nett 72.

Stableford winner was Charles Hulley on 38 points, counting out Zelda Smook.

The competition last Wednesday was won by Alan Rowley and Rob Vogt on 43 points. by two from Paul Bunge and Albert dos Santos.

In third place were Bruce Holmes and Lionel Peters on 40 points.
