It’s back to ‘our game’ for golfers

Back to cycle racing on Friday and Saturday as the Sani2c boys and girls (or whatever their so called pronoun is) trundled into town and up the first fairway to rapturous applause.

We had a respite from the cycle racing on Wednesday as we teed it up for an Individual game.

The scoring was somewhat subdued as 29 points was the winning score, returned by Tony Power, who is becoming a permanent feature in this column.

Second on the same score was Brian Richards and a usual winner Denis Brown took the honour of lifting the Stone.

The organisation of these races is perfection personified as nothing is left to chance and thanks must also go to the golf club’s band of volunteers who by doing their bit also add to the success of the races.

Now that cycle racing is finished for another year we can get back to ‘our game’.

This Wednesday (18th) will be a betterball Stableford which will be the last until the championships are over.

We will be playing some Individual games to get us into the mood for the championships which will be held on May 28 and 29.

The list is on the board for entries and it is incumbent for all members to at least try and win their division.

Next Saturday the Umthunzi Hotel and Conference Centre will be providing the prizes and a two night stay is up for grabs to the winner plus other prizes to boot. To all those who have been laid low by the Chinese flu aka Covid – get well soon, keep warm, keep active within your garden or area and we’ll see you soon.

Flyer’s footnote: Give me golf clubs, fresh air and a beautiful partner and you can keep my golf clubs fresh air.
