uMkuhla to take on Northern Zulus in inter region plate finals

The final is set to take place at Selborne on July 30 and 31.

The 2022 KZN Inter Region competition kick off at Prince’s Grant last weekend. Eight teams from across the province met to take on the challenge of the new format competition.

Previously played over 36 holes per round (betterball followed by foursomes), this year’s competition saw rounds one and two played on the same weekend, with just a betterball format deciding which teams progressed to the championship and which to the plate division.

South Coast Region (SCR) fields two sides – Umdoni and uMkuhla – made up of eight ladies each selected from across the various South Coast clubs.

Unfortunately, both sides lost their first-round matches, to Midlands and Durban Region Swallows respectively.

And, because they were in the same draw, the SCR teams took one another on, in Sunday’s round two knock-out for a spot in the plate finals.

It was uMkuhla, captained by Natalie Singer of Umkomaas, who produced a convincing 5-3 win over the Umdoni team captained by SCR President Leanne Parsons from Selborne.

Special thanks to Leanne for her exceptional organisation skills and to the SCR committee who fundraised to ensure that the ladies all enjoyed a wonderful tournament, with all costs covered.

The final is set to take place at Selborne on July 30 and 31.

SCR uMkuhla will take on the Northern Zulus, while Durban Region Swallows will take on their fellow Durbanites.
