It has been proven over and over again that no fish is too big to land for fisherman, Dawie Redelinghuis.
Skipper of Mighty Charters, Dawie has been fishing the deep sea for many years, and landed a 20.2kg mussel cracker off Shelly Beach last Thursday.
He also landed a prodigal son weighing in at 10kg the same week.
On the rock and surf side, fisherman, Ian Logie said it has been quiet as the sardines have moved into deeper waters.
Scottburgh beachgoers finally had an opportunity to be part of this year’s Sardine Run, as the little silver fish were netted in Scottburgh last Friday. There were also reports of netting in Pennington.

Saltwater fish species of South Africa are under huge pressure and many anglers ignore catch and size limits. This ultimately has a big impact on fish stocks.
Please stick to the size and bag limits for your area. There is an overall cumulative daily bag limit of 10, provided that this limit does not apply to those species listed with a bag limit.
Recreational fishing permits are available from any Post Office and are issued in the holder’s name and are not transferrable. No recreational permit holder is allowed to sell any part of their catch.
Bag limits: Shad – 4; karanteen – 10; bronze bream – 2; kob – 1; garrick – 2
