Crouching captain, hidden golfer

There are some new faces on the golf committee.

Howard Crouch is the new men’s golf captain at Port Shepstone Country Club.

He takes over from Bevis Fairbrother, who stepped down but will remain on the committee.

Howard’s vice-captain is Preggie Perumal. Ken Morris remains as handicapper.

Other members are Stephen Herbst, Basil King and Morris Moodley.

The Standard Bank Pairs Challenge at Port Shepstone Country Club was played last Saturday and won by Theo van Rooyen and Albert dos Santos on 45 points.

They will advance to the next round after it was discovered that one of the initial winners did not have an official handicap.

Runners-up were Tinus Pretorius and Rob Calder on 44 points. Third place went to Colin Paul and Laurence Roberts on 43 points.

Earlier in the week, Rob Calder won the Pig Challenge Stableford last Wednesday on 39 points, with Doc Bux second on 37 points. Gavin van Wyk was third on 36 points.

The Captain vs Vice-Captain’s match saw the captain’s team winning.
