Padel action this Saturday
Slots are filling fast but there might be a few places left for late entries, if you wish to play.
Even if you haven’t entered the Padel South Coast, Ivungu River Conservancy Padel Tournament, round up your family and friends, bring along your deck chairs and support the players.
The event, a major Ivungu River Conservancy fundraiser, takes place at the Douglas Mitchell Padel Courts on October 26, from 13:00.
Padel, best described as the lovechild of tennis and squash, is a great spectator sport. Enjoy an action-packed afternoon watching the games, then stay on afterwards for the prizegiving, after-party and charity auction.
A Padel racquet worth R2500, two nights accommodation for four at Lake Glencairn in the Southern Berg, a cordless drill and an Ivungu River Conservancy goodie bag are among the items that will go under the hammer.
Proceeds from the tournament and auction, plus any donations received on the day (donations are always very welcome), will go towards an important green project, an ambitious war against alien invasive plants that the conservancy is waging.
Slots are filling fast, but there might be a few places left for late entries if you wish to play.
As the premises are licensed, no alcohol may be brought into the grounds, but the Douglas Mitchell bar facilities will be available, and you can pre-book boerie and vegetarian rolls by contacting Sarah on 083 3313866.
