Children belong in families, not institutions. That’s the motivation behind two fundraisers being organised by Give a Child a Family Africa (GCF).
Based in Margate, GCF is a child protection and family-strengthening organisation committed to ensuring that children grow up in safe, loving families – not in institutions.
“We work to prevent family breakdown, support vulnerable families, and place children in temporary safe care through trained foster and emergency safety parents,” said marketing and fundraising manager Mareli Schwartz.
“We urgently need more caring adults to step forward as foster or emergency safety parents. If you have a heart for children and a safe space to offer, we provide all the training and support you need to make a life-changing difference.”
Not ready to foster? There are other ways to get involved. Join GCF at its upcoming fundraising events.
* The Dodgeball Challenge takes place at South Coast Action Sports in Shelly Beach on Saturday, July 5 at 11:00. It’s a fun event for adults and teens (15+). Teams of six, R100 per person. It’s energetic, exciting, and all for a good cause.
* TeeOff4Kids Golf Day will take place at Port Shepstone Country Club on Saturday, August 16. Hole sponsors, prize sponsors, and golfers are urged to support. All donations welcome, even if you’re not a golfer.
